thoughts change and I would rather talk about the dentist than think today

I was going to write about something completely different today, but I changed my mind. I was not able to find words to say what I wanted to say. Oh well… Just imagine that it was profound and that it touched your heart.

On a surface note, I had to go to the dentist today, and oh what fun it was. I had ex-ray’s taken, which requires wearing a led coat, NICE ONE!, and having these very uncomfortable and awkward things stuffed between your cheek and teeth, and the hygienist says with a smile, relax hon. Then it was the physical exam, holding my mouth open as widely, and yeah, relaxed as possible, for searching searching searching. After that, there was a polishing, and flossing. I am grateful that Bill (my dentist) was the one to do the cleaning this time, and did not rip my gums to shreds like his last hygienist did. It is a very strange sight, observing the people who are putting strange and foreign objects in your mouth, I always wish I had my camera at these times. I would rather not think of what their perspective looks like, not too cute I am quite sure. There will never be a picture to find out.

Thankfully I had no new cavities, which is wonderful, but I did have an old cavity pop out. This means that I get to go back next week to take care of it. YAY!!!

Bill has been an excellent dentist to me, and lord knows that I have had my share of dental work done. I am extremely fastidious about cleaning and flossing, cause even though I like the guy, I am totally fine just seeing him twice a year for routine deep cleaning and check ups.

I went to a new dentist on Friday. They were great. The music they were playing was cracking me up though…70’s rock. When Smoke on the Water came on, I almost had the giggle fits. It just seemed so incongruent! My other dentist played downtempo electronica. I liked that better.

What kind of muzak does yours play?

hahahaha, My dentist plays top 40, yes, it is excruciating. Fortunately, he did not hum along today. When he and the hygienist were out of the room, I considered trying to change the station, but I rarely listen to the radio, as it is usually not so great. Maybe I will offer him some mixes or something, or suggest that he get XM radio. That way, he could leave the top 40 behind. (the worst was when the song “Rosanna” came on, it stayed in my head forever)

Lorin, get to the dentist ASAP, it is important. If money is an issue, consider the dental school. They do work for less money, and I have heard that they do a great job.
